A new round of UN-facilitated Military Coordination Committee meetings took place in Amman
The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) convened a new round of technical meetings in Amman from 12 to 16 October with representatives from the Government of Yemen and the Joint Forces Command in the Military Coordination Committee (MCC).
Building on previous engagements, participants examined aspects of ceasefire planning and security coordination, focusing on land, air, and maritime security, as well as reviewing lessons learned from other ceasefire experiences that could be adapted to the specific security and coordination challenges in Yemen.

The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, commended the constructive role played by the delegations in supporting ongoing UN efforts to end the conflict. Reflecting on the evolving regional context, he said: “Developments in the region, including the recent ceasefire in Gaza, highlight both the need and the opportunity to build on moments of calm to advance progress toward peace in Yemen.”
OSESGY reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging all parties to engage in dialogue through the MCC and other channels to advance progress toward an inclusive political process.
