Amman, 31 August 2025 - The Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, is following with great concern recent developments in Yemen, where Ansar-Allah controlled areas have continued to be subject to Israeli strikes following Ansar Allah attacks against Israel. 

The Special Envoy reiterates that Yemen and cannot afford to become a battleground for a broader geopolitical conflict. These attacks need to stop. The Special Envoy continues to urge all sides to use available diplomatic channels to de-escalate. 

The Special Envoy is also deeply concerned by the civilian deaths and injuries in the recent Israeli attacks. 

In addition, according to statements issued by Ansar Allah, several senior Ansar Allah officials and political interlocutors were killed and injured. 

The Special Envoy calls on all concerned to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure in line with their obligations under international law.
