UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg, welcomes the formation of a cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Shaya Al-Zindani.
The Special Envoy notes that this development comes at a moment where renewed efforts are needed to advance an inclusive, Yemeni-led political process, to address Yemen’s political, economic and security challenges, and to respond to the priorities of the Yemeni people. In this context, the Special Envoy also welcomes the return of women in the cabinet, as an important step toward strengthening inclusive governance and reinforcing representative decision-making.
“It is important that the newly formed cabinet is allowed to carry out its work in a constructive environment to stabilize the situation, alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and help create conditions conducive to lasting peace,” the Special Envoy said.
The Special Envoy will continue to engage with Yemeni and regional stakeholders in support of efforts aimed at advancing dialogue and de-escalation.
