Amman, 10 April 2026 – The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, travelled from Aden to Riyadh as part of his ongoing engagements to advance a Yemeni-led political process under UN auspices.
The Special Envoy met with the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi. They discussed progress on stabilization in Government areas and ways to advance the peace process.
Grundberg also met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber. They discussed prospects for the peace process in Yemen, as well as the ongoing negotiations on conflict-related detainees taking place in Amman.
The Special Envoy also met with representatives of the Joint Forces Command.
In addition, the Special Envoy met with ambassadors of the permanent members of the UN Security Council (P5), emphasizing the need for concerted international support for de-escalation and a negotiated settlement.
