TRIPOLI — UNSMIL strongly condemns the killing of Al-Khansa Mohamed Abdulmajid who was shot in Janzour district of Tripoli last night. The Mission extends its deepest condolences to her family, underscoring that this appalling incident highlights the urgent need to address all cases of such killings across the country and ensure full accountability. UNSMIL urges the competent authorities to swiftly and transparently investigate this crime, bring the perpetrators to justice, and take decisive measures to end this pattern of violence. It also highlights a serious pattern of violence against women and the targeting of women active in public life. The Mission recognizes that an incident of this nature is traumatic for the family, friends and community of Al Khansa Mujahid, but cautions against any acts that could escalate tensions between communities and calls on all actors to excercise restraint and cooperate with ongoing investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
