Martin Griffiths to Al Hurra TV: We are working to hold a new round of consultations before the end of the year
The Special Envoy of the Secretary General for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, reiterated in an interview with Al Hurra TV that the political solution is the only way to end the war in Yemen. He stressed that he is working to overcome all obstacles to be able to call for a new round of consultations before the end of this year, adding that the parties have repeatedly expressed their desire to return to the negotiations table.
Griffiths said that the content of the next round of negotiations will include two key issues: discussing confidence-building measures and setting a framework for a possible solution to the conflict in Yemen.
The Special Envoy pointed out the importance of supporting the Yemeni economy, especially supporting the Central Bank of Yemen, as a fundamental contribution to improve the living conditions in Yemen, and to alleviate the humanitarian situation there. He also pointed out that efforts are being made to support state institutions and to maintain the payment of employees’ salaries of these institutions to continue to provide services, noting that it is also important to for donors to plan to support Yemen after the war.
