The United Nations Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed welcomes the start of cessation of hostilities that began at midnight, 10 April 2016. He urges all parties to work to ensure that the cessation of hostilities is fully respected, and creates a conducive environment for the peace talks scheduled to resume in Kuwait on 18 April.
05 Apr 2016 - The United Nations Secretary General Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed concluded a two-day visit to Brussels where he met with senior officials from the European Union and the government of Belgium.
The Special Envoy held in-depth discussions on the political, humanitarian and economic situation in Yemen with Ms. Federica MOGHERINI, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
01 Apr 2016 - Preparations are currently underway for Yemeni-Yemeni peace talks, to be held under the auspices of the United Nations in Kuwait starting 18 April. The talks aim to reach a comprehensive agreement, which will end the war and allow the resumption of inclusive political dialogue in line with UN Security Council resolution 2216 (2015) and other relevant UNSC resolutions

These consultations seek to establish a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, secure improvements to the humanitarian situation and a return to a peaceful and orderly political transition.
