Amman, January 9, 2025 — The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, concluded today a visit to Sana’a.
New York, 30 December 2024
Madam President [US Permanent Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield],
Distinguished members of the Security Council,
The Middle East is witnessing yet another dangerous escalation.
The Secretary-General is gravely concerned about intensified escalation in Yemen and Israel. Israeli airstrikes today on Sana’a International Airport, the Red Sea ports and power stations in Yemen are especially alarming.
A three-day meeting between the Office of the Special Envoy for Yemen and representatives from the Government of Yemen in the Military Coordination Committee took place last week in Amman to discuss the planning and management of ceasefires and transitional security arrangements.
