    14 May 2020 - Thanks very much. Thank you Mr. President, and I want to start by extending my warmest wishes to the people of Yemen, of course firstly, and to Muslims across the world for the holy month of Ramadan.
  • 30 Apr 2020 - The members of the Security Council expressed their strong concern at the 25 April declaration of the Southern Transitional Council (STC). They reaffirmed their strong commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and called for expediting implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.
  • 28 Apr 2020 - In response to questions on Yemen, the Spokesman had the following to say: “The Secretary-General is following with concern the developments on the ground in southern Yemen. He urges all relevant stakeholders to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any actions that would further escalate the situation.

    27 Apr 2020 - Amman, 27 April 2020 - The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, is concerned by the 25 April declaration by the Southern Transitional Council (STC). “The latest turn of events is disappointing, especially as the city of Aden and other areas in the south have yet to recover from flooding and are facing the risk of COVID-19”, said Mr. Griffiths.

  • 12 Apr 2020 - 11 April 2020 - On 23 March, the Secretary-General launched an appeal for an immediate Global Ceasefire, urging all warring parties to pull back from hostilities, put aside mistrust and animosity, and silence their guns. Many parties have responded positively to the Secretary-General’s appeal, but more needs to be done to translate these words into actions.
  • 10 Apr 2020 - The Members of the Security Council endorsed the Secretary-General’s call of 25 March for those fighting in Yemen to immediately cease hostilities, focus on reaching a negotiated political settlement, and to do everything possible to counter an outbreak of COVID-19.
  • 10 Apr 2020 - The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, shared earlier today with the Government of Yemen and Ansar Allah the UN’s revised proposals for agreements on 1) nation-wide ceasefire 2) key economic and humanitarian measures to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, build confidence between the parties and support Yemen’s ability to respond to the crisis of COVID-19, and 3) the urgent resumption of the political process.
