The Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed arrives to Sana'a
The Secretary General Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed arrived to Sana'a yesterday to meet with members of Ansar Allah and the General People's Congress and discuss the peace framework.
"This is my second visit to Yemen in less than a week. It is crucial to tackle every aspect of the framework in details with the parties in order to make sure that we reach a comprehensive agreement for Yemen. The peace roadmap contains a set of sequenced security and political steps which would help Yemen return to a peaceful and orderly transition," said the Special Envoy.
In addition to the H-GPC delegation, the Special Envoy will meet with members of the diplomatic corps, UN agencies and humanitarian community to discuss ways to alleviate the humanitarian suffering and assess the best ways to address the critical economical crisis that the country is facing.
"Negotiating peace frameworks is a tremendous undertaking under the best of circumstances," added the Special Envoy. "It is needed now more than ever and it represents an opportunity to put an end to the fighting that has crippled the country's stability. It requires an unequivocal determination of the parties to reach a negotiated settlement to put Yemen on the path to peace and that's what we are aiming for."
