On 14 April, the Council adopted resolution 2216, which established a targeted arms embargo on the Houthis and forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. It also imposed financial and travel ban sanctions against Houthi leader Abdulmalek al-Houthi and Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, the son of the former president.
