UN Special Envoy for Yemen concludes visit to Riyadh
The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, held discussions in Riyadh today with senior Yemeni, regional, and international officials and diplomats.
Grundberg met with the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohamed Al Jaber, to discuss the progress of efforts to advance an agreement between the Yemeni parties on measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, including the payment of public sector salaries, as well as on a sustainable nationwide ceasefire, and the resumption of an inclusive political process under UN auspices. Special Envoy Grundberg reiterated his appreciation for the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman in this regard.
Grundberg also met with the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council in Riyadh to coordinate international peace advocacy.
"This is a critical juncture and Yemen needs the support and accompaniment of the region and the international community to navigate the path towards sustainable peace and development," the Special Envoy said.
