    15 Jun 2021 - Thank you very much. Mr. President, and I want to thank you and all the members of the Council for the privilege that I have had serving as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen this past three years. This will be my last briefing to the Council in this capacity. And I’d like to add I’m particularly grateful also to President Hadi for placing his trust in me in this assignment.

  • 28 May 2021 - The UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, was in Muscat yesterday 27 May. He met with Mohammed Abdel Salam, the chief negotiator of Ansar Allah. He also met with senior Omani officials. He discussed the UN plan to open Sana’a airport and lift restrictions on Hudaydah ports to enhance the freedom of movement of people and commodities to and from Yemen, achieve a nationwide ceasefire, and commit the parties to the relaunch of a political process to end the conflict.
  • 26 May 2021 - Amman, 26 May 2021 - The Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, concluded today, Wednesday, a three-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he met senior Saudi and Yemeni officials to discuss the United Nations’ plan to achieve a nationwide ceasefire in Yemen, ease restrictions on the movement of people and commodities to and from the country, and commit the parties to the conflict to the resumption of a political process to end the conflict.

This is an occasion to celebrate the values of compassion and kindness, and perseverance - values that should guide us all in our efforts to put Yemen on the track of peace, reconciliation and recovery.

  • 05 May 2021 - Amman, 5 May 2021 - The UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths has concluded today a week-long round of meetings with Yemeni, regional and international interlocutors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Oman.

  • 18 Apr 2021 - The Members of the Security Council welcomed the announcement of Saudi Arabia on 22 March, supported by the Government of Yemen, to end the conflict in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution, which was in line with the UN Special Envoy’s proposal for a nationwide ceasefire, re-opening Sana’a International airport, and allowing free movement of ships for fuel and other commodities into Hudaydah port in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement.
