The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, carried out discussions with the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, other senior Egyptian officials, and Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Hossam Zaki in Cairo. Grundberg briefed on the ongoing mediation efforts to resume an inclusive Yemeni-owned political process under UN auspices to reach a sustainable political settlement.

In Cairo, the Special Envoy also met with Yemeni parliamentarians. Grundberg expressed appreciation for all initiatives that foster dialogue as a way to overcome differences and build consensus. He also stressed the need for the parties to agree on more measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, implement a nationwide ceasefire, and to come together with other Yemenis in an inclusive process aimed at achieving lasting peace.
