In Riyadh, he met with Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman, Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Bin Mubarak, the US Envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, as well as other officials.

    24 Jan 2021 - Amman, 24 January 2021 – The fifth meeting of the Supervisory Committee on the Implementation of the Prisoners and Detainees Exchange Agreement has started today in Amman, Jordan. The Committee resumes discussions between the parties to the conflict in Yemen to discuss the release of more detainees following the release of 1056 detainees last October.

    13 Jan 2021 - Just to say that we, of course, continue to be extremely concerned about the potential impact of the US designation of the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization.  And that is the impact on the humanitarian situation in Yemen — particularly on the risk of famine.  Yemen remains the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

    06 Jan 2021 - 6 January 2021 - The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen Martin Griffiths met earlier today with President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Mr. Griffiths congratulated President Hadi on the formation of the new Cabinet and condemned the horrific attack against the newly formed Government of Yemen, upon its arrival in Aden airport last week that aimed at undermining peace efforts.

  • 31 Dec 2020 - In a call with the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Bin Mubarak, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, reiterated his unequivocal condemnation of the cowardly attack on the Yemeni cabinet upon the arrival of its members to Aden airport which killed and injured dozens of civilians. Mr. Griffiths offered his sincere condolences for all those who lost loved ones and expressed hope for a speedy recovery for all the injured.
  • 31 Dec 2020 - The Secretary-General condemns the deplorable attack on Aden airport shortly after the arrival of the newly formed Yemeni cabinet, which killed and wounded dozens of people. He extends his profound condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the people and Government of Yemen. He wishes a speedy recovery to those injured.
